Our dedicated volunteers staff The Gift Shop at MCHD, which serves patients, their families and friends, visitors, and District Staff alike with gift items, collectibles, toys, snacks, and much more. The Gift Shop is a favorite stop for patients to pick up get-well items, baby gifts for new mothers, and even small items for themselves.
One of the most nerve-wracking places in the hospital for families of patients to wait is the Surgical Waiting Area. Auxiliary volunteers help to alleviate their worries by providing compassionate and helpful services, such as snacks and drinks, to calm their fears.
The Rose Ladies provide snacks and drinks to patients and their families while they are in the hospital. They received their name from the color of the uniforms that they wear while performing their services to the District. The Rose Ladies are a welcome sight to patients and staff alike when you see them pushing their serving carts down the District hallways.
A favorite service that the Auxiliary provides is fresh-popped popcorn available in the hospital lobby every Wednesday. Needless to say, The Popcorn Man is one of the most popular volunteers among patients and staff. When the Popcorn Man is on site everyone knows because the wonderful smell of popcorn wafts down the hospital halls.
Moore County Hospital District has an adjacent nursing home called The Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Fun With Music singers provide rousing entertainment to the residents once a week. The residents look forward to the sing-a-long and the camaraderie that the singers provide.
Auxiliary Volunteers are crucial in the success of the annual MCHD Health Fair. Volunteers staff the concession stand, help with registration, provide free popcorn to visitors, and much more. ""The Health Fair couldn't be the success it is without the assistance of all the wonderful volunteers who give freely of their time to both the District and the community it serves. We are grateful for each and every one of these extraordinary individuals." - Ashley Smith, MCHD Health Fair organizer
Auxiliary Volunteers serve in multiple community organizations such as the Lions Club and Rotary Club and serve on the Boards of multiple local charitable organizations. Our volunteers are pillars of our community and we are proud to have them serve for the Auxiliary.
